The C1 Ranch on the Chilcotin River in the heartland of BC’s Chilcotin has been a historic part of this region for over 100 years. The legendary working ranch is now for sale in a total turnkey share offering including 100% of the shares of the Company and includes land, improvements, equipment and livestock.

The current owner, under the guidance of long time Montana Rancher and Ranch Consultant Dennis “Poncho” McCoy, has made strategic and important capital improvements and the ranch is in a state of top care and performance.

The 1,200 head cow calf operation includes 10,499 acres of deeded land in 61 titles, 2,893 acres of Grazing Leases, 6,445 AUM Range Permit estimated to cover 170,000 +/- acres to 143,000 +/- acres. 1,911 acres are under 12 updated pivot irrigation systems of which 10 pivots cover 1,730 acres in crop/hay ground and 2 smaller pivots cover 181 acres of pasture ground.

The pivot irrigation systems have been totally updated with state of the art technology to ensure the most efficient and even delivery of the required water to the crop land while minimizing the labour and electricity required.

Overall the crop production acreage averages 3± tons per acre per season. Some of the second cut ground is left for fall grazing with a very good watering system that allows efficient rotational use of the pivot ground for grazing.

A 7 pen feed lot on the home ranch to feed 1,200 head is supported with an all season stock watering system, 2,160 sq ft heated calving barn and 1,800 sq ft cattle handling building with squeeze chute.

The main ranch house is a 7 bedroom, 8 bathroom home facing south with magnificent views overlooking the Chilcotin River, ranch production lands, airstrip and feedlot to the Chilcotin Range of the Coast Mountains.

The ranch manager’s house is a 5 bedroom 3 bathroom home which, along with the other employee house, has been remodeled in the last four years by the current owners.

The ranch airport, designation CAL5, is an impressive facility; the 5,000 ft strip is 75 ft wide with 500 ft on each end graded as a run-out area or for additional paving if a 6,000 ft strip is desired. The 20,000 sq ft hangar/workshop is heavily insulated with heated floors, 2 apartment units for flight crews, a bay with a wall to wall overhead bridge crane and 8,000 sq ft equipment storage area. Alexis Creek is an unincorporated community in the Chilcotin District of the western Central Interior of the Canadian province of British Columbia, on Highway 20 between Williams Lake and Bella Coola. The small settlement has the following services: British Columbia Forestry Service office, Alexis Creek School, highways maintenance yard, Royal Canadian Mounted Police detachment, Happy Eater Restaurant, Doodlebugs Restaurant, tire/mechanical repair shop, health clinic, Alexis Creek Store and British Columbia Ambulance Service. The Alexis Creek General Store offers liquor, groceries, Canada Post Office, mail boxes and a little bit of everything.


The C1 Ranch has been an integral part of the Chilcotin and Alexis Creek history for well over 100 years. Part of its fascinating history is that for 37 years until 1993 the ranch was owned by German Prince Richard Wittgenstein who is married to a member of the Danish Royal Family. The Wittgenstein family had a consistent program of enlargement and improvement and were excellent stewards of the land.

In 1993 the ranch sold to the owner of a US electronics company who also invested in enlarging and improving the ranch and its infrastructure including adding the airstrip, hangar, and the owner’s and manager’s homes. The C1 is now offered again for sale so a new chapter in the rich history of this iconic ranch is about to unfold.
