Buying Acreage for Sale in BC Means a Different Type of Life

Making the move out of the city and into one of the rural communities in the area means a very different type of lifestyle. You’ll spend more time outdoors and, depending on the type of property you buy, you may need to roll up your sleeves to do a bit of work. Here are a few key recommendations.

#1: Have a Car

Having and maintaining a vehicle enables you to get around with the lack of public transportation. It’s not easy to call for a ride here. To buy food or other supplies, you may have to drive a bit. Some of the acreage for sale is a 20- or 30-minute drive from the center of town. For some, that’s just what they desire.

#2: Plan to Do More Physical Work

A growing trend is to purchase land for a ranch. Building a hobby farm can enhance your quality of life. You may even find an established farm for sale. Be ready to do some hard physical work. That may mean getting up early each day to care for animals or to work while it’s cool and comfortable outside.

Be prepared by having a plan for this space. Do you plan to have a few people to help you? #3: Know What Your Land Does and Does Not Offer

In some cases, you’ll need to establish this before moving in. Internet is not always a given. You may need to pay to have it installed. Make sure there’s ample access to fresh water supplies. That includes enough for your family but also enough for any animals or plants you plan to establish on the land. Buying waterfront property, such as buying on a lake, may be an excellent way to ensure access if you’ll need a large supply.
