BC Ranch For Sale
The Long Ranch borders the Fraser River for some 5,900 feet (1,800 metres) and the Holmes River for approximately 2,300 feet (700 metres) in a spectacular setting between the Rocky and Cariboo Mountains, to further complement the geographic setting a large portion of the ranch abuts Crescent Lake.
The ranch is at an elevation of 2,300 feet and on average enjoys about 120 frost free days and 21 inches of precipitation per year. The ranch is currently rented to a young but very experienced farming family at $21,000 per year.
Under the ownership of Jack Long the ranch produced amazing yields of barley, wheat, oats, canola, peas and for much of the past 20 years, forage seed. In later years hay production became the prominent crop. The fine soils on the ranch vary from silt loams to heavy clay loams concentrated along the river banks. The Robson Valley is gaining a reputation for organic crops and farms in the area produce a variety of organic crops including potatoes and grains.
From 1965 to 1981 the ranch operated a beef back grounding feedlot with an average throughput of some 750 head per year.
